Urban Landscapes

Urban Landscapes 08-09

My Neighborhood as Urban Landscapes

My students discuss the concept of “attentive Living” and its significance in their daily life. They will develop "urban landscapes" using photography and captured ambient sound of their neighborhoods, school, home, and any other place they come in contact with on a daily basis.

The genre of "Urban Landscapes" helps my students with a natural understanding of their surroundings and hence begin to analyze personal space as organic and changing. They will understand their environment and the influence it has on their everyday life.

"Urban landscapes" will help my
students identify personal, cultural, and social truths about their communities and the people who inhabit them. They will, with intent, analyze, select, and present a personal point of view about their world.

The following photographs are "Urban Landscapes" from
my design students Jonathan, Selina, and Cindy at South Gate HS.

"I never walk home! but for this assignment I did, everything is so different" --Cindy

" I love to photograph at night, well at any time, but the night is beautiful"-- Jonathan
